Rescuing Leftover Cuisine is a non-profit organization with a focus on food. They are doing wonderful things in several cities and towns across the United States. Through dedicated employees and volunteers, they are taking what is usually wasted and providing it to people in need. RuffleCon loves organizations that give back, and are proud to be donating to their latest charity event.
The world is a hungry place for millions.
According to their website, one in nine people suffered from chronic hunger across the world between 2012 and 2014. Within the United States, one in seven were food insecure in 2014 alone. That number was staggering to hear!
Through their organization, they work to accomplish one of many goals, including: "After identifying the homeless shelters of a needy community, we proactively find restaurants, hotels, and catering companies with excess food in that vicinity that could help support these disadvantaged communities."
How can you help?
I love how simple they have made volunteering sound. Basically, if you can walk, you can help! One of the tasks they have is finding volunteers to bring food from a donating restaurant, hotel, or other venue to a nearby homeless shelter. Something like that makes it easy for anyone to get involved.
As RuffleCon grows, one major focus is on how we can impact nearby communities. Organizations like this help us facilitate positive changes. Not everyone has an endless wallet for those expensive gowns, and probably have members that face challenges like hunger. Getting involved is one way we can help reduce this stress that no one should have to face, especially in a world where food is wasted daily.
To help in closing this gap, RuffleCon made a recent contribution. If this issue touches your heart as it has ours, we hope that you can find time to volunteer or donate to this wonderful cause! For more information, please check out their website.
